Macallan 12 year Old is a widely popular Speyside single malt scotch whisky matured in sherry casks to give it the premium name and taste it has. This rich whisky appreciates a reputation of luxury and fine taste all over the world. A lot of its credibility comes from the brand itself which famously spends the most on sourcing and preparing their handcrafted casks for the maturation of its liquor.
The nose experiences aromas of vanilla, ginger, dried fruits along with notes of sherry scents spectacularly balanced by wood smoke for that ideal aroma worth savouring. Upon sipping it, you will experience the lovely combination of sweet raisins, plums, and prunes giving it a fruity overtone blended with dark barrel char, soft spice and hearty sherry. Macallan 12 has a long finish with lingering spice and sweet oaky undertones.
This exclusive liquor has such a massive fan base all over the world that there are cocktails made specially for and named after it. And it would not be less than a crime to drink those cocktails without the legendary Macallan to truly bring out the flavours.
While drinking it, you are expected to let it mellow in your mouth before you actually take it in to embrace all the flavours properly. It is most famously consumed in a cocktail designed specifically for it,- The Honeypot. However, there are many many more cocktails that go just great with it, but a true macallan lover would at least try the honeypot once.
Macallan 12 is indeed a taste of luxury and you should get it today to experience the complex enriching flavours.
The Nikka 12 year old is the most accomplished expression of the art of blending. For the creation of this blend, the House’s Chief Blender has used whiskies aged at least 12 years, which brings an astonishing complexity to the final blend. Its aromatic profile, closer to an aged single malt than a blend, is directly influenced by the composition of the blend which emphasizes single malts with a small proportion of grain whiskies such as corn.
The nose is rather fruity (citrus, orange, lemon) at first sight, but it is in fact more complex than it seems with the appearance of spicy notes of cinnamon and nutmeg but also greedy aromas of beeswax, honey, and malted barley.
On the palate, The Nikka 12 year old reveals itself like a symphony orchestra with the greedy notes of dark chocolate as first violin and malted barley as piano. Numerous fruity aromas of apple, mirabelle plum, greengage and pear play the role of string instruments, while the airy floral notes of lilac and lily of the valley play the role of wind instruments. And to give rhythm to the whole, honeyed notes complete the melody of flavors.
The aromatic symphony ends with a long and smooth finish offering a multitude of notes of coconut milk, red fruits, pineapple and clementine combined with tobacco and licorice aromas in retro olfaction.
